The Gavin Derham Foundation & Special Needs Trust
About GD13
The Gavin Derham Foundation & The Gavin Derham Special Needs Trust were established following a sudden and life-altering medical emergency. In March 2026, 24-year-old Gavin Derham was found unresponsive and admitted to the hospital after experiencing status epilepticus, a life-threatening condition involving prolonged seizures. After spending more than four months in three different hospitals - including three months in a medically induced coma - Gavin was discharged in July 2026 and began his next stage of of recovery at home.

While Gavin’s diagnosis remains unclear, his experience inspired the GD13's mission: to raise funds to support his continued recovery and provide resources, advocacy, and support to families facing epilepsy, status epilepticus (SE), and New-Onset Refractory Status Epilepticus (NORSE).

This site follows Gavin's recovery, shares his milestones, and connects a community of support around him. Our goal is to fund resources that aid his healing, raise awareness of these conditions, and offer support to others going through something similar. Follow Gavin's story and connect with his family as they navigate this journey.
